Mission Partners
St Luke’s currently support three Mission Partners that are close to the heart of our church family both financially and in prayer and they are:
YMCA Cheltenham
Driven by the good we do
YMCA Cheltenham, believes everyone deserves a safe place to live, the proper support to move forward, and the opportunity to rebuild their future. Founded in 1855, YMCA Cheltenham was born out of a desire to create positive change
Today, they serve a diverse and growing community through their Housing, Wellbeing, Sports, and Family Support services. They create physical, mental, and emotionally safe spaces for people to thrive and find their feet again.
Rooted in Christian values, they are committed to creating supportive, inclusive, and energising communities – places where families and individuals of all backgrounds can truly belong, contribute, and thrive.

- The poor, the vulnerable and the marginalised
- Christ-centred partnership with locally-led ministries
- The least resourced, least reached people of the world
Mike and Barbara Workman
Many of the St Luke’s church family will remember Mike & Barbara Workman from their time when Mike was Pastor at this church. They are now being used by God in a variety of ways from their home in London.
Operating under the banner of Operation Mobilisation (OM), Mike has taken on the leadership of the New Asian Friendship Centre in East London where he and a dedicated team minister to the local multi-cultural community are demonstrating God’s love by providing free advice and practical help - securing benefits, dealing with landlords, debt, paperwork, and other needs and problems, while introducing them to the Lord Jesus through this kindness and bible teaching.
Barbara meanwhile works as an administrator for OM’s international finance team, supporting financial activities and projects in the 135 countries where OM works.
In Bangladesh, through contacts made during the time he and Barbara were in Singapore, Mike also gives support and training to believers in Jesus from other faiths. His particular focus is to encourage young potential leaders.
OM is about seeing people grow in their relationship with God, encouraging them to step out to have an impact in His world. They’re about seeing people experience the radical, sacrificial, unconditional love we see at the cross – whether they’re in Cheltenham or Dhaka!
